About Artist: Her Story

Rosemarie Fox Hicks
My passion for art has been with me my entire life. As a child, I was one of  those lucky few, I always knew what I wanted to be when I grew up.  An Artist!

It has been a long and winding road leading me to Art Body & Soul. I have studied at The Art Institute of Chicago, The American Academy of Art in Chicago and also at The Beverly Art Center.

I worked in an art and photography studio learning many valuable lessons in design and technique and at an architectural firm in their graphic design department.

I have enjoyed doing illustrations for many educational children’s books and other publications.

I also love to work in pastels doing portraits and landscapes. I believe an artist should always keep growing  through new experiences, be open to fresh ideas, and embrace every  chance to learn and appreciate the beauty around us.

I was very fortunate to have met the inspiring artist Theresa Suchy McGraw and be introduced to the art of  Pregnancy Castings (Dimensional Portrait Explorations). Art Body & Soul gives me the most exciting and rewarding opportunity to create a beautiful and precious memento of a woman’s wondrous body during her pregnancy. I am so thrilled to paint the casts and present them to each woman knowing that I have helped to honor and empower her through this art form. As the mother of four children, I know how extraordinary it is to carry the miracle of a new life within your body and that this experience changes you down into the depths of your soul. As the artist who now has the privilege to create a work of art to honor the pregnant woman I, too, am touched deeply by this soulful expression through art.
